Sony-owned Epic Records has laid off SVP of Promotion and Strategy Erik Oleson and COO Mark Shimmel.

BMG Rights Management hired Robert Stegmüller as Vice President of Copyright.

EMI Australia chairman and senior VP of marketing Mark Poston has stepped down.

Island co-president Ted Cockle is now President of Virgin Records UK.

Naomi Moran as General Manager of The Orchard UK and Europe.
Elizabeth Sobol has been named President and CEO of Decca Label Group, USA.
Capitol Music Group just named Todd von Mende, formerly of Universal Music Group, as CFO.
Justin Eshak moved from Mick Management to Vice President of A&R at Columbia Records.
Sonicbids was sold to Backstage for $15 million.

Coachella 2013 Line Up Announced

January 25th, 2013

Coachella has officially announced its 2013 line up!  This is the second year in a row that the two weekends’ line ups will be identical.  Weekend one is April 12 – 14; Weekend two is April 19 – 21.  Headlining artists include Blur, The Stone Roses, Phoenix, and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.  Tickets go on sale January 29th at 10 am PST.  Last year they sold out in under two hours, so if you plan on going, set your alarm!


2013 Academy Awards Nominations Announced

The 2013 Academy Awards nominees were announced today. Lincoln leads with 12 nominations, with Life of Pi close behind with 11. Both Les Miserables and Silver Linings Playbook both received 8.  Some of the major categories are listed below.
